Television Anime Adaptation of Drops of God Manga Announced for 2026

In an exciting development for anime enthusiasts, Pony Canyon has unveiled plans to bring the beloved manga “The Drops of God” to the small screen. This announcement has sparked anticipation among fans who have been eagerly awaiting a visual rendition of the critically acclaimed series.

The manga, created by Tadashi Agi and illustrated by Shū Okimoto, has garnered a dedicated following since its debut in Kodansha’s Morning magazine in 2004. The story, which revolves around the intricate world of wine, has captivated readers with its deep character development and rich narrative. The anime adaptation promises to bring this complexity to life, offering viewers a new way to experience the story.

The series will star a talented voice cast, including Banjō Ginga, who will also play the role of Yutaka Kanzaki. The anime is set to air on Tokyo MX, Kansai TV, and BS NTV channels in Japan, reaching a wide audience across the country.

The creative team behind the adaptation is equally impressive. Kenji Itoso, known for his work on “Aquarion: Myth of Emotions” and “Santa Company,” will direct the series at Satelight, collaborating with YANCHESTER. Yū Mitsuru, who also worked on “Aquarion: Myth of Emotions,” will supervise and write the series scripts. Character design will be handled by Takehiro Suwa, while Eishi Segawa, who has contributed to projects like “Battle Girls – Time Paradox” and “Ushio & Tora,” will compose the music.

Other staff members will bring their expertise to ensure the anime stays true to the original manga while offering a fresh perspective. The original manga, launched by siblings Shin and Yuko Kibayashi under the pen name Tadashi Agi, has already seen success with a live-action series in 2009 and an international co-produced live-action television series on Apple TV. The manga’s final arc, titled “Drops of God: Mariage,” ended in October 2020, and a sequel, “Drops of God Second,” concluded in April 2024.

The anticipation for this anime adaptation is high, with fans eager to see how the intricate world of “The Drops of God” will be translated to the screen. The combination of a talented creative team and the rich source material promises an engaging and visually stunning experience.
